Movie Review - Clash of the Titans

Clash of the Titans
Hmmm, where to start here....
This movie is of course a remake of the orignal COT which sported monsters stop motion animated by the legend Ray Harryhousen.
The movie is about Persius who loses his family in the ocean due to Hades punishing humans for tearing down a statue of Zeus as to start a war between man and god. Persius is rescued by the humans and vows to defeat the gods to avenge his family. The king and queen challenge the gods and Hades comes down and instantly kills their army. He gives them a certain amount of time to pray again to Zeus or sacrifice their young queen to the gods so that the rest of the humans may live. Of course they aren't going to do this so they venture out with Persius to find a way to stop the gods and their almighty weapon the Kraken. Persius is spared and put with the team because he is revealed to be the son of zeus. Zeus apparently when pissed, goes around raping people.
So they travel the land getting certain items that are needed to stop the Kraken.
The movie has a bit of a weird flow to it and things seem to happen for no reason. A woman follows with the group who explains who certain people are and where they are going, almost as if they didn't want to film those parts or flashback to them so they just have this girl explain it all. A bit of the CGI was a little shoddy as well, especially with Pegasus.
It also picks up a bit quickly and ends real fast and easy at the end like they saw they didn't want a long movie and just cut it all short.
Great great music though.
B-
+Great music
+Decent cast
+Medusa and Zeus
-Woman used to explain things that should have been filmed
-Some slight shoddy CGI
-Too quick cut short ending
-Slow begining and some scenes seemed cut
and look at the movie poster.....thats the ending......way to go movie....

Movie Review - James and the Giant Peach

James and the Giant Peach
A little boy named James lost his family to a....rhino in the sky.....yep....and now lives with i think relatives who are these two evil women who barely feed him and treat him like crap and work him almost to death. Along comes a man who gives James a bag of little glow worms that whatever they touch becomes magical. On his way in the house he trips and the worms go everywhere. The two women come out and see a peach on the tree and make james go get it,the peach begins to grow and grow and the women capitalize on this and charge people to come see the peach. James goes out to clean up after the party and sees one of the glow worms and follows it inside the peach. Once inside, he is now stop motion animated along with a rag tag group of insects and bugs that are also animated. The peach breaks free and James and the bugs travel over the ocean and eventually fly by way of seagulls all the way to New York City.
The movie is one of the works of Henry Selick whose animation company has done nightmare before xmas, corpse bride, and coraline. The movie looks good animation wise but the story never really seems to pick up to an exciting or really interesting point. All the songs in the movie are very forgettable and unnecessary. You really do feel for James though and are really happy sad when he makes it to New York and is excited himself. Not too bad of a film but not one that stands tall with the rest of Mr. Selick's work.
Keep an eye out for Jack Skellington or at least a pre-famous Jack, as the skeleton pirate under the sea.
B-
+Good animation
+Great voice work
+French spider
-Forgettable songs
-Slow beginning
-Film never really escalates

Movie Review - Death at a Funeral

Death at a Funeral
This movie is mainly about the death of the father of one of the main characters. Small funny things and setups happen on the way to the funeral. Once the funeral starts though, things just keep escalating and getting more and more outrageous and hilarious. Including illegal drugs that make you more than high, a small person with incriminating photos and news, a old man in a wheelchair, money, naked man on the roof, and more.
The movie starts off a tad slow but once things getting crazy, the laughs start to come out easier. This movie is being remade here in America...of course...so we'll see how that does.
Can America not think of anything else and just steal off the Brits!!!!
Regardless, it is a good film with some decent laughs.
B+
+Genuinely funny parts later on
+Great Cast
+Escalation of craziness
-Slow start
-Humor is more along the british style which may turn some off.....not me...
