Boss on His Way While Couple are On Their Way

Dante sat in the back of the car, his driver navigating his way to their destination.  He couldn't help but feel some misgivings about going on this trip and not spending the time with his wife.  The last time he had to do something like this it was a rogue member of his own team who thought they could be bigger than Dante himself and stole enough loot to start several businesses.  You didn't join his gang, let your trust be earned, and then throw it back in his face.  Needless to say, the runaway member didn't last very long.  Poor sap pleaded for his life before being fed several of his own body parts.  The other gangs would joke and label his legendary revenge tactics humorously as Dante's Inferno.  It didn't happen often but most people thought twice before tempting their luck.  This was the first time that a pair of people that weren't professionals were able to cause so much chaos and elude the very best thrown at them.  He wasn't worried bu there was a hint of the unknown having to deal with a situation that's escalated so much.
Was it even worth it?
How valuable could half of Price's empire be anyways.  All it really did was provide him with the leverage and power to erase some more competition out of the picture.  The phone that was housed in the back seat rang and he picked it up after considering it for a moment.
"Dante."
A woman spoke next.  "Sir I have a call transfer from S."
"Put them through."
There was a beep of silence and some clicks were heard.
"Dante, there are more developments."
"Explain."
"The couple has left the city and are on their way, seem to have taken the 32."
"Is there anyone in the area that can follow or apprehend?"
"We've got some contacts close to where they will be but not many."
"Tail them best you can.  I will be arriving at the airport in an hour."
"The Royal Darkness may make a move to kill them because of Victoria."
"I should hope they don't. You're keeping an eye on them?"
"Not too much but word gets back."
"This couple has information I need.  I don't want to have to deal with more shit in my way."
"They will be watched.  The cost of all of this surveillance is going to go up."
"Money is no object.  I need all eyes."
"Very well."
"I'll most likely be on the plane when you check in again."
"I"ll get my contact in the area to pursue."
The line hung up and Dante shifted in his seat.  He took a very deep breath and tried to clear his head.

The car sped down the road as the rain decided to let up.  Meg was deep in thought, Edward was smiling.
"Well sweeheart, you've been on a good roll so far, finish it up."
"I'm thinkin, I'm thinkin.  Z....hmmmm."
"The suspense of a Z word about me is killing me."
"Um....you are Z only one I love more than anything."
"That's not a word."
"French word.  The but in french.  I win."
"No no no, that's not how it works."
"Yeah it is!  Here I'll use it in a sentence.  Pull Z car over when you can zo I can go pee."
"I call crap on that but I guess you win."
"Woohoo me!  Seriously though, I need a bathroom."
"First sign of anything we'll stop."
"We can switch off then and let you rest next."
The countryside was picturesque, the rain had given everything a wet sheen making it all look shiny.  There wasn't anything very different than how it looked on the roads they had traveled previously.  The temperature settled down a bit, of which Meg was thankful for as it wasn't the comfiest sitting in that seat covered in sweat.  He had told her to catch up on some rest but she couldn't help her excitement knowing they were headed to the coast.  The vibration of the vehicle was almost enough to put her to sleep with the breeze coming in through the open window as well.  Time crawled on until she noticed houses popping up and various streets connecting them all.
"Most likely a town market or shop in the area if there's all these people living here.  Good place to pee."
"Sounds good to me.  The sooner the better."
"I'll make sure I drive slowly past any water puddles or dripping water."
"Don't tease me."
He smiled and made the first turn into the housed area.
The area seemed harmless, children played with one another while parents watched from front porches.  A change from the areas before as this one had no hotels, big buildings, or any real places to shop.  This is what her home should have been she thought.  The kids all looked happy and everyone else appeared content.  She felt a little sad for missing out on that and had a thought she hadn't had before.
Children.
He had no idea of knowing what she was thinking but she looked at him anyways.
"There's got to be somewhere here you can pee.  Wait.  Yeah, there's a big general store up here.  I'll park here and we'll walk over."
The car slowly pulled to a stop without anyone taking notice.  They got out looking around at the area.
"It's quiet."
"That's what it sounds like when you aren't being chased by gunmen darling."
"You know what?  I like it."
"Store up here should have a restroom."
"Good because I'm at maximum hold right now."
The store was a regular grocery store with all the many products anyone might need.  There was a smattering of people inside and a radio quietly provided atmosphere to the shoppers.  Once she was informed of the location of the restrooms, Meg almost ran to the back of the building.  Edward walked around the many aisles looking at all the products on display.  It was a nice little diversion to the monotonous driving through the countryside.  Meg finished and checked herself in the mirror, she had a slight stomach ache and felt a little sick but remedied most of it with some splashes of cold water to her face.  She exited the restroom making eye contact with a man reading a newspaper and looking in her direction.
"Afternoon."
She smiled back and went looking for Edward as the man kept watching her.
"All emptied out and ready to go?"
"Yep, it's surprisingly clean in there."
"Need anything while we're here."
"Nah, I'm good.  Just you.  I want to get to that coast."
"You're too cute for words.  Alright let's go."
The couple got back in the car taking opposite seats and Meg pulled out back onto the road.  As she drove away she glanced in the rear-view mirror and saw the man with the newspaper outside the store still staring at her.  She squirmed a little in her seat and pressed the gas pedal harder out of the small little neighborhood.

City Left Behind, A Couple in Love Set out for the Coast

Buildings passed by like giants looking down on the small cars driving around their feet.  The many differences in architectures was ever so interesting to Meg. Everything seemed so square, run down, and samey where she came from.  This was a rich metropolis with thriving businesses and a prosperous busy city.  She didn't want to leave, wanting to explore everything it had to offer.  The events that transpired the past two days wasn't exactly helping the area seem super inviting but she had to smile about the dinner date with Edward that left a beautiful imprint on her memory.  It was hard to shake the lasting images of Victoria out of her head.  There was still that part of her that wanted to help her find peace, it was unfortunate that once she found the path she wanted, everything came to stop her.  The traffic around the center of the city allowed her the opportunity to take a look at the many sorts of people going about their days.  The homeless man in the alley using newspapers and cardboard as a makeshift shelter, the woman pushing a baby stroller struggling with her grocery bags, the businessmen in suits carrying briefcases full of documents to meetings or mistresses.  There were teenagers shopping for the latest trends and all sorts of races that you just didn't find back in her area.  She let him take the wheel for the first bit as she still wanted to try and relax and see some of the outside world as they drove.  A crack of thunder expressed itself loudly above them through the oncoming dark clouds.  A familiar friend.
"Was wondering when the ol' rain storms would make their return."
"It was fun while it lasted.  Journey just doesn't feel right without it."
"Speak for yourself, me and the sun were getting along great."
"This traffic isn't doing us any favors.  One of the unfortunate effects of being in a bustling city."
"I don't mind it, I mean don't get me wrong, I want to be at that coast now, but it's so interesting to see the culture."
"I wish I could appreciate it.  My line of work after a certain amount of time you start to get a little paranoid about groups of people.  Being watched."
"Before going through all of this with you, I'd think that was a crazy statement but now I totally get it.  How do you block it out?"
"At first it was difficult but you train yourself to look for certain things.  Plus, a lot of those people probably feel just like we do."
A diverse group of people walked in front of the car as they were stopped at the traffic light.  A small young girl walked past holding her parent's hand and looked in at Meg.  She gave a smile and waved at Meg who waved back feeling a little more calm about the amount of people in the crowds.  The temperature had risen a bit as the morning proceeded bringing with it some humidity which would explain the rain moving in.  Meg waved a paper to fan some extra wind on herself.
"What should I be prepared for once we get there?"
"Anything.  That's the end game, so you better believe we're going to be watched."
"I can't believe all of this is just over a briefcase!"
"Sentimentality means more than money to some people."
"Unfortunately I was lucky enough to run into some of those people."
He looked over at her and her skin was beaded with sweat making her look like a sexy model fanning herself next to him.  The roads let up for a bit before running into another group of grid lock at the edge of town.  Normally she'd be flattered by the occasional looks at her body but the amount of time spent stuck next to certain cars was uncomfortable.  Lightning lit up the cars around them followed not long after by a loud rumble of thunder.  Many of the cars began to roll their windows up in anticipation of the rain that was sure to follow.  Not Meg.  She was looking forward to the cool drops providing any kind of relief from the warmth.  An airplane was heard flying overhead just as the traffic had begun to finally dissipate.

Little did they know that the vessel shooting above them contained the man who began their nightmare.  Price was fiddling with some papers, occasionally peering out of the window impatiently keeping track of his progress.  The plan in his head was his basic hostage situation.  He would lie in wait at the airport until he heard back from his spy and then surprise them.  At gunpoint, they would have no choice but to lead him directly to it with no funny business or long chases across town.  Once the case was in his possession he would eliminate both of them.  Then sit back and enjoy his victory.  A blonde stewardess sauntered over to him.
"Is there anythng I can get you, Mr. Price?"
"No, I'm alright at the moment."
She smiled and walked back up front.  As she walked away he couldn't help but gaze at her ass swaying back and forth with a jiggle to each cheek.  He had hours to kill, why not?
"Actually miss, there might be something you could do."

Through the many raindrops collecting on the back window, Meg watched the looming metropolis shrink behind them as the traffic finally dropped off and they were on their way out.  The now all too familiar countryside was making a comeback, as was the ever present rain.
"How long did you say the coast was from here?"
"If we drive like psychotics, I bet we could make it in two days."
"Two days?!"
"I told you it was a drive."
"And there's nothing along the way?"
"No cities or towns, least not like the ones we've encountered."
"Wonderful.  Gotta find a way to kill a lot of time then."
"It'll go quick, plus we've got each other."
She crinkled her nose and smiled at him.
"Maybe we can play a game."
"Oh yeah?  What did you have in mind?"
"Let's go through the alphabet saying each letter with something we like about the other person."
"That'll definitely kill some time."
They both chuckled before Meg re situated herself in her seat.
"Okay I'll go first.  A. Hmmm, Attitude."
"Alrighty....B...beautiful."
"C for how much you care."
"D for delicious?"
"Flattery won't get you a win.  E for Edward!"
"Neither will easy ones.  F for how much fun I have with you."
"G.  A Grand time on a date with you."
"H reminds me how heavenly you are."
"I for I love you."
He looked at her.  They both smiled and hearts beat in unison.
"The next one is J mister."
"I'm stuck on I for a moment but if I must move on....Just plain in love with you."
They kissed and Meg giggled as he held her hand.
"No distracting me, what letter were we on?"
"I believe you were going to make sure I heard I again."
The car shot down the road as the couple's love filled the car and they went back and forth through the alphabet growing closer and closer with each mile they traveled.  The rain continued but it was a miracle if they even noticed.

Departures in Love

It didn't take Dante long to gather together what he needed.  He didn't usually do a lot of field work but this was getting personal and threatening to his reputation.  What surprised him most was the fact that the head of the Royal Darkness, the most legendary gang around, not only quit the business during a job but died shortly after as well.  He knew she always had an underlying issue with the path she had chosen but she always overcame it and became a more ruthless crime boss in the process.  When she first was on the scene, rumblings of her work quickly rose through the ranks and it was only a matter of time before the two met.  There weren't many ropes left to show her at that point and if he was honest, she impressed the hell out of him.  Before he married his wife, he had doubled up on jobs with her, watching her team achieve more notoriety.  That was when he started noticing the cracks in the facade.  Something happened and she was suddenly a little colder and began doing more sexual practices to release pent up emotions.  He was part of that for a short while thinking in some way it was helping.  She'd come to his office dripping wet and ride him like it was her last day on Earth.  It wasn't unusual for him to find his hands over her breasts or face in her crotch after jobs.  That all stopped after his marriage.  He may have been a ruthless boss in the business but faithfulness was something he took pride in.  Victoria took it personally and began spiraling further down.  A part of him felt bad for not stepping in to help more but time and time again she continued living up to her legendary status.  It was only a matter of time before the dam broke.  Trust with others taking care of his business was falling apart because of Price.  His wife wasn't happy about it but it wouldn't be the first time.  He didn't pack much and was about to make his way out when his wife came down the staircase to say goodbye.
"Shame about Victoria, I always thought she was pretty tough."
"Some inner demons are just too tough to keep at bay."
"You sure you can't find anyone else to take care of this?"
"I don't trust anyone else with it."
"I know but this seems like such a waste of time."
"It probably is but I'm not going to let this dick ruin my reputation and screw up what will be half of my owned portion of his business."
"I think it would be much funner if this dick stayed home."
She rubbed the front of his pants and took his hand into hers.  She was smooth, just shaven.  She slid his fingers around her, wetting them.
"Baby you know I would but time is..."
She kissed him and continued, his heart beat raised and his thoughts got blurry.
"Sigh, damn you babe, fine, real quick before I go."
His pants were down quickly as were hers and he raised one of her legs up on his shoulder and slid himself into her.  They moved together in motion, her legs were shaking unable to hold herself up.  His attention to his woman was unmatched.  He swung her leg down and turned her to face the mirror in front of them and inserted himself form behind.  She yelled out in ecstasy as she came repeatedly.   He worked into her with a hint of aggression and she felt the swelling inside of her before he yanked himself out, ejaculating all over her naked behind.  She didn't move as he redressed and gathered his things.
"Hurry back, I'll be waiting."
"I'll be as fast as I can babe, I'll keep in touch, be ready when I get back."
She shook her ass and he spanked it.
"No worries there, be careful."
He left and took his personal car down to the main road.  It was a bit of a drive to the airport but he would use that time alone to collect his thoughts and formulate just what exactly he was going to do.  He could still smell her and he cursed Price for setting a chain of events in motion that pissed him off royally.

The couple slept in longer than usual to regain more energy and gave themselves time to decompress after the recent events they had gone through.  Meg was up first due to the odd dreams she was experiencing but dream or not, she felt a lot better about Victoria and understood more of how her own path could turn if she let revenge take over too much.  This hotel was nicer than the others with a much better view.  The sun was shining around the tall buildings and reflecting off the windows of the others.  It was nice to just breathe in quiet and watch the world for a moment.  All those people out there and not one knew what was going on in the other's life.  She would bet a million dollars that the person next door would never guess that they were next to someone who was being chased by the mafia, been shot at, killed someone, and was involved in car chases.  Hell, she could barely believe it herself.  She stretched and walked into the bathroom to look at herself in the mirror.  Her arm had healed up alright leaving an interesting scar and her hands had a bruise here and there.  She still felt a little tired but this time with no interruptions was doing a world of good.  The shower was beautiful and roomy as she let the warm water cover every inch of her body.  Closing her eyes, she stood under the water letting the steam carry away any leftover stress out of her.  The mirrors fogged up creating an atmosphere where it was like she was on another world.  Away from it all.  Lips touched her back as goosebumps covered her skin.  Kisses made their way up and down her back while hands rubbed her hips.
"You look absolutely stunning."
Smiling, she turned around keeping her eyes closed and her lips met his.  Their wet bodies pressed against each other and they continued kissing while being completely enveloped with steam.
"If I loved you any more I think I'd explode."
"Shhh, no speak, just kiss."
She held him closer and he continued to make his way down, kissing her neck and her breasts.  They made love until the water ran cold and she was shivering.  She kissed him more and he bit her bottom lip lovingly.  They held for a few minutes more.
"I do love you with my everything, dew drop."
An hour later they had dressed and rejoined with their newly acquired car in the outside parking lot.
"Perfect day for a trip."
"With my perfect person."
"It's just roads to the coast from here."
"Fine with me."
"You ready for one more road trip with me to the coast?"
"So ready.  Excited and scared but so ready."
"I think I feel the same.  Let's go tackle this trip."
They sped out of the lot and on the city roads hoping that this time they were able to leave a location without someone following or watching them.
Hoping.

A Dream of Confidence

Her sleep was deep, something you can't appreciate while you do it.  She was in a ballroom dancing in the middle of the room.  It was beautiful but the color didn't seem to be all there.  It was hard to make out what the music was, her feet kept the rhythm though.  Edward was her partner thankfully and a part of her began to realize this was a dream.  He whisked her around the floor like they were weightless, each sway felt better than the last and it reminded her of their date night where they danced the same.  His hands were always so gentle,it was a feeling she was getting used to, being with him.  Safety.  She hugged him close, her head on his shoulder, and saw a figure in a red dress standing across the room.  At first she though nothing of it, continuing to dance the night away but every time she turned with him, the figure was closer.  It wasn't until the figure was halfway to her that she realized it was Victoria.  She looked different.  Gone were any scars or muscles from years of being in gangs, she actually looked....pretty.  Meg wasn't sure how to react when Victoria held out her hand.  She stopped dancing in confusion and realized Edward and the rest of the crowd had disappeard.  Victoria was still standing with her arm out, hand open.  Meg reached out and took her hand and Victoria began walking, leading her to a balcony overlooking an expansive ocean.
"Victoria, I don't...."
She brought Meg to the railing and the water seemed to stretch on forever.  The sun was setting creating a shimmering path of what looked like diamonds over the water.
"It's beautiful but what is this?"
"The coast."
"Where the case is at."
"They will try and stop you."
"Like they haven't tried already?  Hell, so did you."
"Price will stop at nothing, he has no morals."
"Yeah well he doesn't know where it is, he needs us alive."
"And once he has it?"
"I...I won't let him live."
"You are prepared to take his life?"
"He's taking mine."
"You must be confident, focused."
"Edward is teaching me."
"Your confidence must be strong within."
Meg realized she and Victoria were standing in the ocean now, the water lapping around her legs making her notice they were both naked.  She quickly covered herself and her eyes.
"Woah, hey!   This dream is going into weird territory.  Why do I always end up naked?"
"It is your uninhibited self."
"You like that crazy sex stuff.  I'm not doing any of that with you."
"I had too much darkness.  Made bad choices and found an unhealthy outlet for my anger with myself."
"Interesting way to express yourself."
"You need not cover, your confidence must radiate in any situation.  It's just you and me."
"Doesn't really help, I can be confident in clothes too."
"They know you have fear, they will use every method they can to overpower you."
"I'm not like I was when this began.  I have the drive and much more confidence now."
"Prove to me you do."
Meg gave a puff of annoyance and lowered her hands, standing confidently.  Her nipples were erect.
"Oh for fuc...it's cold water, don't get any ideas."
"This is not about sexuality, it is to show that you are confident in yourself.  Know yourself and won't let any situation distract you."
"I am confident.  I will overtake them and get my happily ever after."
The scenes around her changed, they were on the rooftop watching Price threaten her about the case.
"That's where it all fell apart.  I didn't even know the case was gone then."
It was odd seeing herself look over and then walk down the stairwell to the man she would quickly fall for.  Victoria was by her side.  "Had the case been with you, none of the events after would've taken place."
"No chase.  No attacks.  No...Edward."
Her feet rumbled as they were on a train now, Edward speaking with a gang member as she watched hiding under a food cart.
"If I knew me now back then, I wouldn't be under that sheet.  They found us anyway."
"Every part of this journey is for a reason and an important part of you  I'm sure you didn't see it at the tie but it will all be clear."
Stinging pain jolted through Meg's arm and blood started pouring out of the gunshot would.  She grabbed it in shock as a farmhouse burned down around them.  Meg fell to her knees watching the smoke give way to a small street and her other self running from a gang member, hiding in a shower.  Her wound had healed back up.
"Not my proudest hiding spot."
She watched car chases and hotel rooms and her training in forests.  In front of her eyes she could see herself learning, becoming more confident, using her fear as a motivator to push herself to be stronger and more determined.
"You've come a long way on your journey.  A beautiful, strong, confident, person.  Who has love on her side."
Victoria looked sad.
Meg turned her attention to her.  "What you wanted."
"I tried but got too lost along the way."
"I truly am in love and more confident than I've ever been.  This journey and Edward have made me a much better, happier person."
"I wasn't able to have all of that.  But you, you've got it in spades.  You can achieve the life I should've chosen."
"I'm confident."
"Again."
"I am confident!"
"Again!"
"I am confident!!"
Her yelling woke her up from her dream and Edward as well.
"You okay darlin?  You started yelling."
"Oh dew drop, I'm wonderful.  Once morning comes we are off to the coast for that damn case."
"First thing."
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For everything.  For caring, for loving me, for just being you."
"I love you beautiful."
"I love you darlin....now, make love to me again."

Rough Night Leads to Start of a Coastal Finale

The night at the hospital was a quiet emotional night that showed the reality of how this chase had some dire consequences following them.  You could say Victoria deserved it but she looked to have seen the error of her ways and wanted to pursue the loving life she had wanted all along.  Unfortunately, she was so deep into the business that regardless of what she chose, the business chose her.  The doctors tried as best as they could but the damage was too severe.  The man who she followed her heart for stayed by her side until the very end.  Edward and Meg stayed as long as they could and quietly left before questions would start coming their way about how the patient got shot.  Meg was a little more shaken as this was someone else who wanted something that she had.  Only this wasn't a case but a relationship built on love.  They took the car around the city finding another hotel that hadn't been compromised, neither saying a word for most of the trip.  They both had seen death before but this one felt different.  The pain showed itself more knowing Victoria was making a conscious effort to change.  The street lights on the way to the hotel hypnotically took Meg away from the crazy night.  Once they got to the hotel they crashed into bed within moments.  In the darkness, she laid her head on Edward's chest.  The shock of the night finally wore off and some tears made their way out of her eyes.
"I don't want to experience a night like that ever again."
"You did a great job sweetheart."
"I think she was finally happy."
"You called her friend?"
"His number was on the photo she gave me."
"What made you decide to call?"
"It's what I would have wanted.  The day I am on my last, it would make my heart the happiest to be right with you."
"You better believe I'll be by your side the whole way."
"Growing old together."
"Being ghosts together."
Their hands held tightly and she swung a leg over him before passing out to sleep.  It wasn't long until Edward followed.

Over the night, word traveled fast true to how many members of the business were scattered around.  Dante was called not soon after with news that he was not happy to hear.  The phone lit up the dark room making him slam down his drink.
"This better be good."
"She's gone."
"What?"
"My source from Ormond Cross Hospital confirms Victoria deceased."
There was a long stretch of silence as Dante tried to piece it all together.  This further complicated things and stopped his end of the bargain cold.  Now he had nobody following this couple.
"Well this is just shit.  What was the cause?"
"Bullet wound.  Struck fatally."
"From the couple?"
"Not sure.  They were seen leaving the hospital though."
"You don't shoot and then accompany to the hospital.  Someone else got to her."
"Possible.  Price had some guys sent over."
"That son of a bitch.  He's screwing over his own damn plan!"
"Didn't hear it from us, we'll be in touch."
The line hung up leaving Dante fuming.  He practically shatter his glass with one hand.
"This god damn prick has forced my hand.  We had a god damn deal."
His hand flung back onto the phone and he dialed Price.  A woman answered on the other end.
"Price, how may I direct this call?"
"This is Dante, put that little fuck on the phone."
"He's not here Mr. Dante sir, he took a flight to the coast."
"Is that so huh?  This just keeps getting better."
He slammed the receiver down.
"Well, he's going to have some company when he arrives."

The nightmares were having a return and Meg tossed and turned in her sleep.  Being given the case, the farm house and being shot, Victoria's death, the coast.  The anxiety and need for this all to be over with woke her up in a sweat.  This time Edward was woken as well.  "You alright darlin?"
"Nightmares again.  Ruins my rest."
"They're just dreams, I've got you."
"I want this all to be over, I can't take much more of this.  I mean, who is going to be after us now?"
"Hopefully with Victoria not leading the pack it dies down for a little."
"Tomorrow morning we are off to the coast.  Now I just want to sleep peacefully."
"What can I do for you beautiful?"
"Make love to me."
He kissed her and she felt him grow rigid.  She lay back and undressed, keeping her eyes closed.  Feeling him enter her, she could immediately feel her body letting go of all the emotions.  He was gentle and moved in exactly the right way to help her achieve ecstasy rather quickly.
Then again.
And again.
With her energy spent and body sore, she fell asleep.  Edward laid next to her, covering her beautiful naked body and held her.  She looked like a goddess in his arms and by the look on her face she had a very rough day but hopefully at least for tonight she was able to sleep.
Peacefully.

I Choose Love

Shock hadn't set completely in for the couple as they entered their hotel room to find their newly recruited partner laying in a chair bleeding out.  The look on Victoria's face matched their own.  She looked pale and the hand that was holding her side was scarlet with blood.  A man in a coat laid behind the door with a gunshot wound to his head.  Didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what had happened.
"They found us.  Probably trying to get the jump on us and ran into Victoria instead."
She was breathing hard and Edward gave her a towel to hold the pressure on herself.
"We need to get her to a hospital."
Meg was panicked and although harbored ill will towards Victoria, couldn't let another person suffer or die if it could be helped.
"I...I...won't make..."  Victoria could barely speak.
"Darlin, I don't think she'll make a trip to a hospital, she's in bad shape."
"We have to try, there's a phone on the desk, information can transfer to the hospital."
She quickly dialed and within minutes an ambulance was on its way.
"Stay with her, I'm going to take care of the body by the door."
Edward made quick work of the murdered man while Meg sat with Victoria, her breathing was labored and the towel was becoming sticky with plasma.  Victoria held Meg's hand.  "I'm...sorry."
"Save your strength, you have nothing to be sorry about."
"It's....all my....fault."
"Nobody is blaming you for anything.  Just hold on and try breathing slow.  The ambulance is on its way."
It wasn't long before they heard the siren of the ambulance pulling down the street.  Paramedics quickly reached the room and carefully put Victoria on a stretcher to be taken to the van.  Edward kissed Meg and led her behind them.  "Go with her.  I'm going to get everything and the car and meet you there."
"Me? You aren't going?"
"I'll be there right after.  I still need to make sure we are okay no matter the outcome to get to the coast."
"I've never....what do I do?"
"Just be there.  It'll mean the world."
"Hurry and don't be long."
"I won't"
As Meg left with the crew, Edward had to scavenge the area to ensure any and all threats were gone and clean up any there were already taken care of in case police came back to investigate.  The girl was shot after all.  The sleuth detective in him immediately found the car keys and what vehicle they went to as well as a collection of four bodies.  The one in the room, two in a room down the hall, and another in the dumpster outside.  Once satisfied with the area he left and drove to the hospital.

Inside the ambulance, a medic was working feverishly to ensure no more bleeding occurred and various tubes pumped liquids into Victoria.  Meg wasn't sure what to do.  There was a person who had tried to kill them and did weird sexual things to her victims, dieing in front of her.  She knew it was karma in a way but a part of her couldn't shake the feeling that Victoria over the past two days was feeling a sense of remorse and regret.  Someone who wanted you dead didn't generally talk about love or being jealous of relationships.  Meg was holding her hand and felt a slight squeeze from Victoria.  Her eyes met her pale face and it motioned downward, her hand edging towards her pocket.
"What is it?"
Victoria couldn't make the words come out but placed Meg's hand on the pocket of her jeans.  Meg reached in and pulled out a folded piece of paper.  Quizzically she looked back and forth between Victoria and the paper before unfolding it.  It was a photo.  In it was Victoria and a man looking very happy.  Looking in love.  There was a look in Victoria's face in the picture that seemed healthier and happier than she ever did.  Meg almost didn't recognize her.  She continued to hold her hand as the paramedic worked and the ambulance screamed down the road.

Dante waited for the line to pick up.  Another man's voice answered.
"This is Dante, I need information and some whereabouts."
"Word travels."
"Royal Darkness."
"Been quiet for a few days.  Sources say Victoria is a stray."
"Not news to me.  I heard dissent when she reached Ormond City on a job."
"I noticed some covert members in that area causing trouble."
"Oh?  And who and why was that?"
"I hear Price is getting impatient and acting on his own."
"That rat.  Undermining me.  I'm going to need all the details on that.  Little shit thinks he can go behind my back."

When Edward was finally able to meet back up at the hospital, he walked into the room that Victoria was being kept.  She was hooked up to an IV and heart monitor while Meg sat to the side watching.
"How is she?"
"Barely stable, the bullet hit some things internally, they're not sure of the extent of the damage."
"I never thought I'd see the day where Victoria of the Royal Darkness would be taken down."
He sat in another chair close by, watching the sheet move as her breathing continued.  There was silence other than the machines for a period of time.
"Darlin I think her head was preoccupied with other thoughts and she was unfocused.  She slipped up."
"She was sounding a little compassionate."
Meg unfolded the photo in her hands and looked at the happy couple.  Turning it over in her hands she discovered a phone number on the back.  Edward leaned back in his chair.  "I just don't know if I believe anything she was saying, I mean, jealous of what we have?"
Meg thought hard to herself.  "I believe her.  I think I understand, give me a minute."
She left the room and asked the desk to use their phone.

Price stood at the airport holding a bag of luggage.  This was out of character for him but his trust and patience were shot.  Tailing the couple was the wrong approach and too many men were being lost in this chase.  He decided to just fly straight to the coast himself and meet them there.  This started with him and it was going to end with him.  He held his bag tightly as his ticket was called.

Just a few hours passed at the hospital and the couple had fallen asleep together.  A light knock woke them a little as a man timidly entered the room.  Meg recognized him from the photo.  Nobody said anything and the man walked up to her bed side looking stunned and upset.
"Vic...I..."
She reached out and held his hand.  It was the first time Meg saw her smile.
"I never thought..Vic...I'm so sorry."
With what strength she had left she shook her head.
"It's never been the same without you.  I was always hoping you'd come back.  To see you like this I....."
She closed her hands around his, tears forming in her eyes.
"I'm so sorry Vic, I never meant to drive you off.  I love you."
Tears were spilling down her cheeks and she struggled to speak.  It seemed to take all of her strength and with tear filled eyes she finally gasped.
"I choose love."   She said.
He felt the strength leave her hand as her head leaned back against the pillow.
The heart monitor beeping to signify that she was gone.
The man laid his head across her chest and cried.  "I've always chosen you."
Meg held on to Edward before nurses filled the room.
"We're going to the coast for our happily ever after my love." She whispered.

A Legend is Shaken

Victoria pulled up to where the tracer led to find a high rise hotel building.  Not too bad and will be a nice change of pace from the last place.  Wouldn't be tied to a bed this time either.  She pulled closer to the building to find a place to park when she saw one of the coated men entering the building.  Could be a coincidence.
Scanning the area she saw two walking to the back and another making his way to the side entrance.
Not a coincidence.
They found us and were moving in for a surprise attack.
"Shit, I underestimated you boys."
Pulling around the nearest corner, she parked her new vehicle and slinked through the crowd towards the building to stay as inconspicuous as possible.  She didn't have any weapons though so this might be tougher than she might expect it to be.  Most of the men seemed to have already made it inside, lucky for her she could use the tracer to pinpoint exactly where to go and maybe even beat them to it.  She had to find a way inside and get upstairs without being seen.  You didn't become the head of the best gang around and not have anyone know who you were.  The side or rear entrance may be her best bet as she didn't need the main hallway and there would be less witnesses around inside stairwells and back rooms.  There were enough people milling around that she was able to reach the closest side entrance and enter the building.  Inside was silent but a quick look up the middle revealed one of the men almost to the floor the couple was on.  Victoria performed some quick stretches and began climbing up the middle between the stair wells.  The man was humming to himself completely unaware of anything around him.  Not the best way to not be noticed but it also helped to blend in.  She rose up enough to see him and figure out a maneuver that would ensure he wouldn't be coming back.  He adjusted his belt and made sure his weapon was secure and before his hand reached the door he was grabbed from behind and pulled over the railing backwards.  His yell echoed all the way down until he hit bottom and Victoria climbed down after him.  Pain and definite breakage filled the coated man's body as Vickie landed on top of him.
"Had a nasty little fall there, that looked painful."
"Who the hell, why.."
"I don't take kindly to house calls."
She snapped his neck and his movements stopped.  The body had to be disposed of but at least now she had a weapon.  Guns were loud and drew attention so she preferred close counter physical fights but at least she had some insurance if she couldn't get close.  He was carried outside and tossed in a nearby dumpster, she dusted her hands off.
"Alright.  One down, at least four more to go."

It had been a bit of time since Dante had heard any word back from the Royal Darkness, he wasn't used to having jobs not produce results or even make any contact.  He wasn't worried as much as angry.  Victoria was the top of the ladder and her last communication was pretty much a resignation, which left his job unfinished and out in the air.  Not only did this not finish an important job but it left his end of the bargain out in the open and unfulfilled.  He had a reputation to uphold.  Truth be told, it wasn't the first time she had thoughts about leaving the business but cooler heads always prevailed.  The worst part of it all was that he had no idea how to contact her or know what was going on.  He had some contacts around and although it was beneath him, he didn't really have a choice but to start asking around.  He left the bedroom and retrieved his little black book of secret contacts.  The sound of the shower lowering in volume as he walked away.  He liked surprising his wife in the shower and pleasuring her to no end but this was unfortunately taking priority.  Something else that contributed to his anger.  With a huff he closed the doors to his office, put the images of his naked wife out of his head, and started dialing.

The two men who made it through the back of the hotel had already made it up to the hallway of the room.  She checked rooms as she went to see if any were vacant to use for a plan she hatched.  As luck would have it there was one at the end of the hallway, inside was clean and unoccupied, perfect for what she needed.  Now to do what she was best at.
The two men were trying to look natural as they walked.
"You wanna go first?  Surprise them and then I'll come in after."
"Whatever, just as long as they don't start shooting."
"Nah, just stay low and they won't see it coming."
"Unbelievable how they made it this far."
They stopped and stationed themselves outside the door just as a woman walked by wearing just a towel, she winked at them, licked her lips and kept walking.  Their attention was all on her as she gestured with her finger for them to follow her, letting her towel reveal a bit more skin.
"Damn, you see that?"
"How the hell could I miss it?"
"She wanted us to follow her."
"We have a job to do."
"We got this, I'm gonna get my jollies off real quick."
"What about the job?"
"There's a bunch of us, this girl is hot, I'm not letting this opportunity go."
"If this goes south, I'm blaming your ass."
The one went around the corner and saw the woman at the end, she winked and walked into the room.  As she walks in she drops the towel and he sees her bare ass just before she goes out of view.  He rubbed his crotch and made his way to the room.  Excitedly he entered the room only saw emptiness.
"Huh?"
From behind the door, Victoria steps out and strikes him in the back of the head with the gun.  He yelled out and fell to the floor, she met him halfway and snapped his neck.  Two down.  There was one idiot still in the hallway but where was the last one?  She dressed since T&A wasn't going to work on the other guy.  The large body wasn't hard to hide and her luck showed up again when she noticed there was a silencer on his gun.  This should speed things up, time to work.
The remaining man was prepping to bust in when he heard footsteps coming up the other hallway.
"That was quick, you shoot off too early or somethin--"
Around the corner came Victoria who immediately shot him in the head.  The silencer kept it quiet and his body joined the other recently taken care of man.  Three down.  That was the majority at least, better warn them.  She entered the couple's room to find it empty, Edward's coat hanging on a chair.  They must still be out on their date.  A tremendous amount of pain traveled around her side and a push was felt on her body.  She looked down to see her shirt filling with blood and she spun around to see the fourth man aiming a gun and she reflexively shot him in the head.  The room was silent and her head started ringing. She backed into a chair and fell into it holding her side.
Shot.
I've been shot.

"Your skin is so smooth."
"I try and shower often."
"Probably why you smell so good."
The couple's night was finishing up with another hour of dancing after which they shared an ice cream together before leaving in each other's arms laughing and kissing.
"I think we should travel when this is all over."
"I would think that traveling would be the last thing you'd want to do after all of this."
"I mean more, Paris, Italy, somewhere overseas."
"Once we are out of this, I'm ringing that beautiful finger of yours and we are taking a trip."
"I'm gonna hold you to that dew drop."
"I've fallen so hard for you Meg, today was absolutely amazing."
"Couldn't agree more darlin."
"A part of me doesn't even want to go back to the hotel, just keep being out here with you."
"I wouldn't say no to that."
They laughed and share more romantic moments as they reached the hotel and took the elevator up to their room.
"Let today set the standard that every day be filled to the extent with love."
"If every day is like today then I'll be the happiest girl in the world."
They kissed and opened the door.  Victoria was laying on the chair with half her shirt covered in blood, her breathing was hard and she looked frightened.
"I....I'm shot..."
