The girl who skated into his heart

He had made sure he had gotten there early that morning, he didn't want to be late or miss her arrival.  The holiday season was being gentle this year and the day had given up a healthy amount of sunshine.  His eyes scanned the area looking to find her and beginning to watch the multitude of snowflakes that began to fall.  The white crystal fluffs fell slowly from above one at a time to complete the holiday mood and give the atmosphere an extra added layer.  He was ecstatic that she accepted his offer to join him on a date to the ice skating rink today, a feeling that he hadn't experienced since he was younger and his favorite cartoon came on.  He had already worked out the costs and renting of the skates, also planning on treating her to hot cocoa once they retired from the icy landscape.  A quick look at his phone to check the time and he paced around the rink watching the last remaining people finish skating for the morning to start their own day.  This couldn't have ended up more perfect as the way it stood they would have the rink all to themselves.  Christmas music played overhead through speakers hidden inside the large decorated tree that took its place right in the center of the rink.  It was beautiful with all of its different lights and decorations, it put him in the best Christmas mood.  A sudden tingle went through his body giving his stomach a sense of adrenaline.  She had to be near.  He looked around quickly and there she was making her way over to the large square, once she saw he was looking at her she smiled.  He could barely wait to touch her and almost jumped the gun on the hug that presented itself first.  She felt soft and comforting and a warmth that you could only get by being close to a special person, like the connection you felt carried some heat to it.  They exchanged hellos once the hug was complete and her smile and the way her voice sounded was so beautiful it made him forget that there was anything going on around him.  She was excited to try it for the first time and giddily followed him over to the inner counter to collect their skates and begin their date.
Once on the ice they began a dance between the two of them that lifted the season to new heights.  He chose the location for the date because he knew it was somewhere she had never been and it was a way for them to enjoy an activity together and hold hands.  Her gloved hand was in his at the moment holding tight for fear of slipping and falling, his face did a terrible job of hiding his joy but he didn't care. He messed with her a little pretending to slip himself and pulling her here and there so she would let out a little yelp every time.  She skated closer to him and began to be the one that couldn't keep her eyes off of him as each one of her favorite holiday songs played around her from White Christmas to the ever classic Mariah Carey jingle.  Contrary to her fears starting out, she never slipped or fell once and found that she actually really enjoyed the skating....not so much the colder weather.  They were escorted off of the ice so that the ice smoother little truck could fix the ice for more skating and he took this opportunity to bring her hot cocoa.  Another piece of the date that she found equally as nice and fulfilling.  They sat on a bench near the rink and she put her head over onto his should sipping her cocoa and letting the warm cup keep her hands from freezing.  They spoke about many subjects from where they thought the Star Wars movies would end and which season of Supernatural was the best.  She had forgotten they could go back and skate due to being so enveloped into conversations.  There was a love in the air that was undeniable and she couldn't be happier.  Her hand gripped his tighter and tighter and she moved her leg closer to his so that they were touching.  The time was of no concern to them as in this moment time had stopped.  Once back on the ice they were born anew as a couple that were falling head over heels right in front of the other.  With each snowflake that fell it mixed the seasonal feeling with their beating hearts into a whirlwind of perfect love.  Thanks for bringing me here dew drop, I loved it, she said.  It wouldn't be anything without you, he replied and pulled her close.  They kissed in each other's arms directly under the tree as the snowflakes blew by and Christmas music filled the air.  She was the most beautiful thing of the season that day and the one girl who skated right into his heart.     <3 p="">
